Iuli Gerbase is a Brazilian writer and director. Her debut feature film, The Pink Cloud (2021), premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 2021, in the World Dramatic Competition. The film made Variety’s list of the 15 Best Films From The Sundance Film Festival and was called “A refined, accomplished debut” by them. That same year, the film made The Atlantic’s 6 Best Indie Films From Sundance where it was called “A clever and surprising Brazilian movie that was among the best offerings at this year’s Sundance Film Festival”. The film was a success among critics, with 93% Fresh approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It won awards such as the Bloody Window Award at Sitges Film Festival and the Grand Prix at Sofia International Film Festival. Iuli graduated in Cinema and has a Master’s degree in Creative Writing. Before The Pink Cloud, she wrote and directed six short films, worked as assistant director in many projects, and was a writer for two TV series. She is currently developing new features that, like her debut film, are intimate and playful takes on genre.
